Description:
This big guy is every bit of 1350# and 16 hh, just a gentle giant. Goliath is an 11 year old grulla gelding, registered with the ABRA. I do not have his pedigree, but was told he is old foundation bred, King, Poco Buena, Peppy San Badger. He has that awesome cowboy color everyone loves, grulla with a dorsal stripe, shoulder stripe, and leg barring. He is very well put together, with a big hip, wide chest, plenty of bone and a big foot. We have owned Goliath for close to two years, but now that I am pregnant I am cutting way down on my personal horses. He originally came off of a ranch in Oklahoma, where he was used for all phases of ranch work, including roping and gathering cattle in the pasture, sorting pairs, and tagging and doctoring calves. Goliath has just been used for more of a pleasure horse since we have owned him, although I have loaned him out to a few cowboy friends that needed a horse to day work off of, for a few months out of the last couple years. Goliath is quiet and laid back unless you ask him for more, and then he has plenty of speed if you need it. He has an extremely smooth trot you could sit to all day long, a good handle and stop, a light mouth and will open and shut gates easily. Goliath is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. He knows how to travel out in the pasture and will go all day long if you need him to. Goliath can be ridden by himself or in a large group of horses with no problem. He will leave the group willingly and will happily lead or follow. He has also been ridden along the side of the road and in traffic and is not bothered by it. Goliath is gentle and well broke but is not suitable for children or beginners due to his size and athletic ability. Goliath has good ground manners, stands quietly tied, and is easy to catch, load, haul, and shoe. He got hooked by a bull last year and tore some muscles in the back of his right hip. He is sound but at a walk he walks with a slightly shortened gait in the right hind. It causes no pain, just a slightly shortened stride in that leg at a walk only. His price reflects this. $3000.
