If you are looking for a stout, well broke horse to use on the ranch or ride for pleasure, then take a look at Cooper. He is a good looking 13 year old sorrel gelding, 15.1hh and every bit of 1250 pounds, with a big hip, wide chest, plenty of bone and four black feet. Cooper is broke the way one is supposed to be, with a solid foundation and an excellent handle. He never throws his head, gaps his mouth or pops his tail, he just happily and willingly does everything you ask of him. Cooper came off of a big ranch in West Texas where he had been for most of his life, and has been used for all phases of ranch work, including roping and gathering cattle in the pasture, sorting pairs, and tagging and doctoring calves. Cooper has spent his entire life around cattle and is good on the end of the rope. We have also done some team sorting on him and have carried the flag on him in grand entries. Cooper is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. He has an excellent one handed neck rein, a smooth trot and rocking horse lope, is good on both leads, will sidepass, and work a gate. He is laid back and rides quietly on a loose rein, but will easily step into a trot or lope when you ask him to. He knows how to travel out in the pasture and will go all day long if you need him to. Cooper can be ridden by himself or in a large group of horses with no problem. He will leave the group willingly and will happily lead or follow. He has also been ridden along the side of the road and in traffic and is not bothered by it. Cooper is gentle and very well broke but is not suitable for children or beginners due to his size and athletic ability.
