Description:
Leachman Cattle is currently seeking a candidate for the position of Herdsman. This person would be responsible for the day to day care and sale preparation of all of Leachman’s sale bulls. Tasks would include: processing cattle on arrival to facilities, sorting cattle into management groups, assistance in collecting yearling measurements, weighing cattle, picturing cattle, loading and unloading cattle trucks, managing cattle inventory, managing cattle care inventory (vaccines/medications), feeding/caring for company horses, vehicle/equipment maintenance, and possible assistance with the company cowherd. The ideal candidate would be self-motivated, highly responsible, and promote a safe and clean working environment among the Cattle Team. This position would report to the Director of Sales.



Some travel would be required depending on production sale location and preparation schedule.



Skills Required

• Excellent organization, time management, and communication skills

• Ability to work in a team environment and supervise other employees

• Basic animal health principles and ability to treat sick cattle

• Proficient use of Microsoft Excel and good record keeping practices

• Ability to work cattle horseback and stand for long hours, outdoors, in all types of weather

• Capable of supervising a crew of 3 to 5 workers throughout the year at seasonal times

• Understanding of principles and goals associated with a high caliber seedstock cattle operation

• Salary paid position with pay commensurate with experience

Leachman Cattle of Colorado is a beef cattle genetic marketing and consulting company that currently markets approximately 1,800 seedstock bulls a year throughout the United States. Bulls are marketed primarily through 10 annual production sales and private treaty. Leachman Cattle is located in northern Colorado, just north of Fort Collins and Wellington.
