In addition to working in and around the processing facilities, the individual will also assist in the coordination and movement of cattle throughout the lot. This person is responsible for: -Utilizing cowboy note to organize cattle placement and movement. -Assisting with the unloading and movement of incoming cattle. -Working closely within the team and with other areas when coordinating cattle flow. -Reporting holding pen and facility maintenance to Cattle Logistics Team Lead or Processing Supervisor. -Sorting off wrong penners. -Emptying sort holding pens in accordance to BQA standards. -Riding tub in processing facilities. -Ensuring holding pens around processing facilities are emptied daily. -Ensuring general care for your horses (i.e. shoeing, vaccinations, feeding). -Maintaining and cleaning your area (i.e. tack, run, water tanks, and hay feeders) within the facility, including breakroom. -Checking water tank in holding pens to ensure functionality. -Staying current with all required trainings and SOPs. -Meeting punctuality expectations by arriving at assigned times and leaving barn at assigned times. -Coordinating POA (Pulled on Arrival) removal with Cattle Logistics Coordinator. -Assisting in other ares of cattle production including, but not limited to, Pen Checking, Cattle Distribution, and East Lot. -Coordinating when tub and alleyways need to be cleaned and bedded. -Detecting general diagnosis for cattle health (e.g. abscess, MSI, respirator, diptheria). -Writing AM/PM moves lists (e.g. diagnosis notes, return shed for mobiles). -Rotating the on-call responsibilities for unloading incoming cattle on the weekends. Ideal candidate would possess the following qualifications: -Ability to work in a fast paced environment. -Cattle movement knowledge and experience, including experience working in confined spaces (e.g. tub, bud box, crowding pen). -Ability to adapt to handling different types of cattle. -Intermediate to advanced horsemanship skills. -Knowledge of sick or injured cattle, including basic animal health diagnosis. -Feedlot, ranch, and/or sale barn experience preferred. -Beef Quality Assurance experience. -Commitment to safety and quality culture. -High attention to detail. -Time management and planning skills. -Effective verbal verbal communication skills. -Punctual. -Team-oriented. This position requires: -Individual must provide, shoe, and maintain three (3) head of horses and pass ADAMS pre-employment horse evaluation and diagnosis test. Upon hire, individual has sixty days to train one horse to ride tub. By end of 90 days, individual must have two horses that can be used. -Individual must be able to work in adverse weather conditions if needed. -Ability to work fluctuating hours, weekends, and holidays, in addition to being on an on-call weekend rotation. -Exerting 50-100 pounds of force frequently; 10-50 pounds of force continuously. Standing, lifting/lowering, pushing/pulling, twisting, and reaching/handling/grasping continuously; sitting,walking, bending, and stairs frequently; carrying and climbing occasionally; crawling and kneeling/crouching rarely.
