Description:
My name is Hannah Walsh I am a Junior at Centenary University in New Jersey.  I will have my Bachelor of Science in Equine Studies. I will be graduating early, next December of 2018. I would be available in May 2018 for the summer until the end of august. My Idea, if you are interested, would be work for someone in the summer- go back to school in September and finish school and graduate in December then be available to come back to work at the same place. I know thats asking for a lot, but I think it would be a good way for my potential employer and myself to make sure its a good fit for the both of us.

to give you an idea about what Im looking for- I would a training position, manager position, breeding manager, honestly anything like that would be great!

Ill tell you little about myself-

First, I am turning 21 in December. I have been riding my whole life, barrel racing, working cattle, english riding, hunter/jumpers, jumping, trail riding I have done the whole 9 yards! Giving lessons, pony rides, all that fun stuff. I’m hardworking, strong, great work ethic, funny. Love to have fun, but know when to be serious and get down to business and be a professional. I work very well and am confident enough to work individually and I can work great with a team too.

This passed summer I worked at a AQHA breeding farm. I broke and trained 2 and 3 year olds, Studs and whatever horse needed work. I have a love for studs and how they work. I did basic farm work such as AM and PM  chores and feeding, stack hay, stalls general stuff like that. I assisted the Vet and barn manager with shots, medication, AI-ing mares, and Preg checking. I helped monitor and assess Mares and Foal before and after foaling and herd health. We also assisted with vaccinating, preg-checking and doctoring cattle when needed. I have been trained to do IM and IV injections on horses.

One thing I really enjoy doing is marketing. This summer I helped update the farm website and market sale horses online. I had experience writing sale ads. I love to take pictures, so I took pictures of sale horses and did pictures for the guys that were selling some cows.  I ran a hunting business page (more info on resume) and I really enjoyed marking projects and companies and talking to people about them.

I am also passionate about bloodlines. I could look at bloodlines all day!I love to match brood mares to studs based on bloodlines and body conformation.

Two summers ago, I worked out in Wyoming. I was only supposed to stay three weeks but ended up staying the whole summer and went to a 3 weeks of a Clinic with Pat Wyse (Townsend MT).

On the ranch in Wyoming I was made Head Wrangler. I taught people how to tack up, basics of riding, oversaw all the ranch chores etc (willing to explain more about job and experience with that) I was also the handler and rider of the 4 year old Stallion they had on the ranch.

As far as horse training goes and my whole "theory" didn’t stem from one specific trainer or professional. Ive watched countless training videos, people’s training sessions, attended clinics when I can. I pull a little bit from everyone and everything for each horse.  I believe that I will never ever ever stop learning. I enjoy helping the difficult horses through mental block. I like to approach them and have a mutual respect and have an honest relationship with them. I like the theory that I am their “herd leader.” They submit to me, but we work together and respect each other.

I have experience hauling different kinds of trailers, cattle, working cattle, I am comfortable with anything, barrel racing, rodeos. I’m pretty average at roping, but I love it so I’m starting to practice on my 3 year old a lot more. I have a thing for cows, love them!

I am from Pennsylvania, but don’t let that scare you.  I can do dirty work, anything you tell me to do. I work equally if not harder than the boys. Not a girly girl. Love working all day and getting jobs done. Have no problem working horses at 10 pm if needed. I cook, clean, love kids you name it. I WILL prove myself as I have always done. I’m a very honest, hard working woman thats not afraid of the blood, sweat and tears it takes to make it in this industry.

I have my own 3 year gelding ( Prancing Leo Hancock) that I trained myself. He’s great with ranch work and I can rope off him, ponied horse off him, done ranch sorting competition on him, great on cattle. Great overall horse. I also have a yearling, but he will turn 2 in may, that I will break and train myself. (A Drifting Cat) - I know my horses will be worked on my own time. like I said I have no problem being up late and staying late to ride my horse like I’ve done in the past.

Im willing to learn anything, and do whatever you need to do.

Hannah Walsh
