We are getting married in November and I will be graduating from Tarleton State University in December. John graduated from Tarleton in December 2016. We will both have a Bachelor’s of Science in Animal Production. Currently I work for TSU’s Equine Center and have been for 2 years now. I have had the opportunity to foal out mares, administer vaccinations, treat injuries, improve and maintain the facility, and improve my leadership abilities. Specific course work such as, Horse Psychology and Training and Equine Behavior Modification has provided valuable experience in handling and training young horses and helped me gain a better understanding of equine behavior. Most recently, being a Teaching Assistant for those two courses has improved my ability to communicate effectively, solve problems and help others to reach their goals. Before college, I loped cutting horses and spent some time around reiners and cutters. I help my fiancé at his job gathering, sorting, and processing cattle. We also start some colts and ride horses on the job. John has been the foreman for McKinney Cattle Co. for just over two years. His work consists of maintaining a 500-600 head cow/calf operation. He has the skills to run a cow/calf operation and often works alone. He prefers to handle cattle horseback and believes that slower is faster. He enjoys working with young horses and seeing them improve. John also has several years of experience working in and around livestock auctions. We have both attended the colt starting class at Tarleton for 2 years under the instruction of Bobbie Walton who is also our coach for the Stock Horse Team. We have been riding with the team for 4 years where we have improved our horsemanship and competed in SHOT (Stock Horse of Texas) shows. We are both very passionate about growing in our horsemanship and stockmanship and strive to be the best we can be. We are not necessarily looking for a couple’s job but we would be interested. We work well alone or together.
