Charlie is one of those once in a lifetime horses, the type that everyone is looking for but that rarely come up for sale. At just 5 years old, he is 100% kid and beginner friendly, always gentle with no buck, rear, bite, kick or take off, and so nicely broke that you can do just about anything on him and have a good time doing it. Charlie is the quietest, sweetest, best minded and most willing young horse we have had around here in a long time! He is the type of horse you can let sit for weeks, saddle up and swing a leg over without warming him up and not have to be worried that he is going to buck you off. That word is not even in his vocabulary! We are Charlie’s second owner, buying him directly from his breeder during a dispersal sale due to health reasons. He loves people and craves attention, and when you walk out into a pasture full of horses he is the first to come running up to you as though saying “pick me, pick me!” Charlie has already done a little bit of everything in his short life. He was shown in halter as a Yearling and has done some showmanship. He was also used in the church horsemanship program to teach beginner children how to be around and learn to ride horses. We have ridden him on trails, through the creek and thick brush, up and down rocky hills, and he will go anywhere you point him. Charlie has also been used to push and sort cattle, has begun tracking cattle, we have drug logs and tires with him, and have lightly started roping with him. He has carried a flag and has also done trail obstacles. There is literally nothing that scares him or spooks him. Charlie is 15hh and ApHC registered as “TPH ShootemupCharlie” # 670997. He has a good handle, stops easily and backs up nicely. Charlie will sidepass, work off your leg, and open and shut gates. He rides just as good bareback with a halter or a rope around his neck as he does with a saddle and bridle. He has excellent ground manners, stands quietly tied, is perfect for the shoer, and loads and hauls great. Charlie is laid back yet responsive, content to walk quietly all day long but will easily step into a trot or lope when asked. He can be ridden out by himself or with other horses, and doesn’t mind being separated from the group. He has also been ridden alongside the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it. We have hauled him all over and he is always the same quiet horse everywhere we take him. $8500.
