Description:
This is a large Navajo Two Grey Hills wool rug measuring 48 ˝” x 86”. It does not look like it has ever been on a floor. This rug is probably from the 1970’s. The colors in the rug are cream, brown, gray, black and beige. Both sides are shown in the photos.

History of Two Grey Hills: Two Grey Hills is located in the New Mexico portion of the Navajo reservation. Their weavings do not use colored dyes and they prefer native wool instead of commercial yarns. The colors in their designs consist of black, gray, beige, brown and cream. They develop unique yarn colors by blending natural colors together. To achieve a solid black color the weavers will over-dye the dark brown wool with a black dye. They are known for very finely spun wool which they use to make tightly woven rugs in complex geometric designs.
