Description:
Foreman wanted starting Sept/October for day to day ranch operations for central Montana Ranch. Primarily duties include: management of cow/calf pairs and yearlings on summer pasture, feedlot duties Oct - May/June turnout, maintenance and construction of infrastructure, noxious weed spraying, haying and equipment operation.



Job description:

Feedlot Operations: daily feeding, herd health checks, doctoring if needed, corral and facility maintenance, checking water



Equipment Operation: Employee will become familiar with operation of the following pieces of equipment: Tractor with front end loader, feed truck, bi-directional tractor, bale processor, skid steer loader with multiple attachments, semi-truck and trailer, pickup with bale-bed.



Maintenance: assist with maintenance schedules on equipment when needed.



Cattle Management: all aspects of cattle production from calving, branding, sorting, doctoring.

AI: help with heat detecting and AI replacement heifer calves (mid-late May),

Calving: Assist with calving checks (mid-March-May1), herd health checks,

Feeding: feedlot, bulls battery, main cow-herd during calving season w/ processor and/or bale-bed.



Haying/Farming: Haying generally occurs the last week of June – July. Employee will participate with swathing, raking, baling and stacking.

Farming is limited hayfield renovation (100-200 acres annually).



Noxious Weeds: Spraying of noxious weeds (May –Sept depending on summer precipt). Methods of application include truck mounted and ATV sprayers, Polaris Ranger 6x6, and backpack.



Fencing: Fence construction, fence and corral tear out and rebuild; skid steer with post auger and driver; build and maintain fence whenever time and weather allows.



Horse use: horses used for most cow moves, branding, calving season checks, sorting, pasture doctoring ect. Ranch horses would be available, but personal horses are welcome and preferred. If personal horses are brought in, the ranch would pasture and provide feed for up to two head. Pasture arrangements for more than two head could be negotiated.



Welding and truck driving experience would be a plus, but a CDL is not necessary.



Previous ranch experience required; Applicant must be a non-smoker and provide provide past employment references. Paid vacation, company vehicle, family housing plus utilities provided. Salary DOE and abilities. Please send applications to XLcattle@hotmail.com.
