Hickory is a 5 year old palomino gelding, 15 hh and nicely built with a good hip, plenty of bone, and a pretty head with a kind eye. Hickory was started by a cowboy out in West Texas, being used on the ranch and day worked off of. He saddles up gentle every day, and has never offered to buck, rear, bite, kick, or take off. He may not always know exactly what you are asking of him but he always tries his best to please his rider. Hickory has an extremely nice handle and stop, will sidepass, work off your leg, work a gate and do beautiful rollbacks. He is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. Hickory has also been used to ride pens in the feedyard and at the sale barn. He has sorted tons of cattle and has been lightly roped off of. He is laid back but responsive, perfectly content to walk quietly all day long but with plenty of gas if you ask him for it. Hickory can be ridden out by himself or with other horses, and doesn’t mind being separated from the group. He has also been ridden alongside the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it. Hickory has excellent ground manners, stands quietly tied, gets along great with other horses, will load in any type of trailer you ask him to, and saddles and bridles easily.
