Description:
This is a pair of very lightly used handmade spurs made by Steve Schmitt of Sonoita, Arizona. Steve is listed in Bits & Spurs, Motifs, Techniques and Modern Makers and Ned and Jody Martin. Steve grew up in Texas and attended the Miller Bit and Spur School in the 1980’s. His workmanship is exceptional and highly sought after by collectors. Steve has retired from spur making and it is not often that you see his work show up for sale. They are marked S Schmitt Maker inside the heel bands. They are steel and the outside rowels, shanks, heel bands, and buttons are inlaid with engraved sterling silver. There are some minor marks from handling and use. This would be a nice pair to wear or to add to a collection.
