Description:
This is a used handmade loose cheek curb bit made by Gary Wiggins of Brewster, Kansas. Gary is listed in Bits & Spurs, Motifs, Techniques and Modern Makers by Ned and Jody Martin. Inside one cheek piece is marked Wiggins, the number 25 on the mouth piece, and the numbers 44*25*16 inside the other cheek piece. The bit is steel with a natural patina and is mounted with engraved nickel silver. There is really nice floral and scroll engraving in the steel. The back of the port is inlaid with copper stripes. It is not bent, broken, or repaired. Gary does really nice work and this bit would be nice to use or to add to a collection.
