Description:
Looking to hire a full time cowboy for a typical ranch job. We are not in a rush to hire as we are looking for the right person to fit our program.



About us:

- We are cow/calf operation that runs approximately 1,500 commercial cows year round, along with approximately 2,500 head of feedlot calves during the winter. We run all of our cows on government allotments during the summer and they come home/we feed them at home in the winter.

- All cow work is done horseback. Head and heel brandings. We rope to doctor. We are not afraid to rope, but we don’t like fixing fence.

- We encourage the use of dogs as long as they are well trained. We will not tolerate attack dogs that teach the cattle bad habits. We are very big on teaching cattle positive behavior and believe that every time you are around the cattle, that you are teaching them something either good or bad.

- We are in a very remote location. If you cannot handle being over two hours from town, do not even consider applying here. We are located in Fields, OR which is two hours from Burns, OR and two hours from Winnemucca, NV. Those are our closest towns. With that being said, there is a small convenience store with limited options on items as well as a K-8 school as well as a bus route that comes to our ranch.

- We are all Christians here and would prefer the same in a future hire as well.

- Housing is provided and pay depends on experience.



About you:

- We need somebody that has experience in/with feedlots, calving heifers, feeding cattle, doctoring outside, and overall herd health.

- Must shoe your own horses.

- Must be able to work alone and be able to take care of your own group of cows without having your hand held but also can work well with the other cowboys as we all work together for a large portion of the year.

- Must be able to doctor cattle alone.

- Cannot mind feeding cattle in the winter, occasional fencing, light mechanic work, and other miscellaneous repairs.

- You must provide your own horses. We recommend having at least 4 and no more than 8.

- Like said previously, dogs are welcome but must be well trained.

- Cannot mind living 2+ hours from town.

- Must be able to take instruction as well as take the initiative on your own when something needs doing.

- No drugs, no drunks, no liars. Shady people need not apply.
