Description:
As the Cattle Development Manager of the ranch, you will be responsible for the care taking of annual fresh raised weaned calves 400+ to yearling, to sell or retain in herd along with irrigated and dry land grass fields located on the ranch. Your direct bosses will be the owners, whom live and work on the ranch. The duties and expected tasks to be completed by you on the ranch will include but not be limited to:

• Oversight of 400+/- heard of Registered Cattle on grass and feed yard

• Keeping tight and transparent records of the herd

• Weaning, feeding and developing registered cattle for sale

• Ordering and maintaining of commodities

• Mixing Feed

• Reading feed bunks

• Keeping close records of feeds fed

• Figuring feed conversations and costs of grain

• Oversight of animal health

• Record keeping of all products used in treating and processing cattle

• Proficiency in animal handling

• Operation of hydraulic chutes and scales

• Operation of new pivots

• Application of fertilizers and weed control chemicals

• Plowing and planting of wheat and grasses

• Clipping of cattle for annual sales

• Branding Cattle

• Breeding of heifers

• Electric fence

• Setting up recipient cows

• Calving heifers

• Weighing and tagging new calves

• Preventative and scheduled maintenance on all cattle

• Facility Maintenance including but not limited to equipment, tractors, irrigation, chutes, scales and water system



Qualifications:

The owners of this property want to bring on someone that is well qualified and can get the job done without micromanagement. Therefore, we ask that one has these pre-requisites:



• Working with a Registered Cattle Herd

• Prior Mini Feed Yard and Farming Experience

• Mechanically Inclined

• Adequate in welding projects

• Operating Heavy Equipment

• Strong Record keeping skills

• Rotating, Sorting and Shipping Cattle

• Tagging Calves in the field

• Branding sale bulls

• Calving out heifers and pulling calves

• Experience working with water lines and wells

• Good Public Relations skills visiting with guests

• Strong Communication Skills



Overall, the landowners are looking for a very knowledgeable and driven individual who will work alongside them and take initiative to finish the job. They will give you as much of the reins as you can handle as long as you are proactive and working hard.
