Description:
Scooter is a stout 10 year old bay gelding, 15hh and around 1150 pounds. He has a big foot, a lot of bone, and a big hip and wide chest. He is very athletic with a big motor, but rides quietly on a loose rein when you aren’t asking for speed. Scooter came off of a ranch in North Texas and has been used to rope and sort cattle in the pens. His previous owner started him in the arena roping steers, but I don’t rope well (as you can tell by the video) so I haven’t tried doing that with him. Scooter is a fantastic trail horse, and is so good on the trails. He will go anywhere you point him, whether it is a steep, rocky hill, a narrow trail, running water, or thick brush. Nothing bothers him, including deer or animals jumping out of the brush. He has been hauled all over to various ranches and state parks and rides just as good away from home as he does at home. Scooter has a good handle and stop, will sidepass and work a gate. He is responsive and quick but not hot. He runs flat and can catch another gear very quickly so he would make an excellent barrel horse as well. Scooter can be ridden by himself or in a large group of horses, doesn’t mind being separated from the group and will happily lead or follow. He has been ridden alongside the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it. Scooter is gentle and has never offered to buck, but he is too much horse for children or beginner riders.
