Description:
Seeking a position as a ranch assistant/manager on either a beef cattle operation or horse breeding/training/etc. operation. My position can be versatile and contain many different responsibilities, as I am flexible and enjoy non-monotonous employment.

Previously, I was an embryologist for a team dairy/beef veterinarians in the Central Valley of California. I am very familiar with reproduction and embryology with cattle as I was responsible for drug synchronization, AI, clinic/equipment set up and cleaning, embryo processing, and much more. I regularly assisted with OPUs, embryo flushes, ET, embryo washing, IVF, etc. I was needed as a vet tech with some surgeries with horses or cattle, and I gained experience with medicine administration and doctoring. I lived on site and managed client cattle. During college, I assisted in teaching students proper AI techniques, as well as serve as a relief breeder for a private dairy breeder on the side of working for the veterinarians.

My responsibilities at the clinic also included being a data analyst for consulting veterinarians and I provided in depth reports on many aspects of a dairy operation, providing key information for the dairy to perform more efficient practices. I have very experienced with computer organization, data collection, paperwork, Excel, etc. I was also responsible for managing the small vet clinic; I was a direct contact for clients needing results, scheduling, or medicine orders, as well as manage medicine/equipment inventory, and assist with milk sample culturing and data collections.

While in college, I was a student herdsman for a 250+ registered cow calf herd. I assisted with AI synchronization and breeding, cow and first-calf heifer calving, small feedlot feeding corn ration for heifer/steers, branding, and meat processing. Since graduating, I have assisted many ranchers and cattlemen as part of my embryologist position, as well as on the side of my full-time job. I continued to be involved with grazing management, AI breeding, brandings, gatherings, etc. to continually learn of different operations and methods. I believe there is always something new to learn and have made it a priority for me to open my mind and continue to learn.

Outside my job descriptions, I have always owned my own horses as well as work with breeders and trainers with theirs, western riding primarily: barrel racing, cutting, and some western pleasure. I have assisted with young/green horse training: ground work, saddle introduction and "breaking", and continuing those into disciplined arena work or trail riding, depending on the desired training level of that horse. My own horses, I have raised and saddle broken, and have kept a few for barrel racing, cattle ranching, and breeding. No roping experience, but I have always been eager to learn. During college and after, I have gained experience with mare care, foal care, AI breeding, stallion handling and collections, semen handling, and more. My greatest area of expertise with reproduction with cattle and horses.

Currently, I work on a diversified ranch, managing pasture leasing to cattle ranchers, flood irrigation, event coordinating, guided trail rides, as well as continuing working with my own and client horses. Versatility has been extremely prevalent in every job title I have held, and I have become very efficient with multitasking, organization, and time management.

I appreciate any and all interest, and would be happy to provide a resume, references, cover letter, or videos upon request. I can be reached at jmunson417@gmail.com or 530.414.3802. Thank you for your consideration.
