Description:
Honest, hardworking, humble, energetic, motivated, thoughtful, adaptable, resilient, self-starting, experienced ranch couple, seeking opportunity with absentee owner or owner occupant, to manage, lease to own, outright purchase of ranch, grazing lease, ranch rental, farm rental, cows on shares, partnership or structured ownership for a low input cow calf or stocker operation.

Would consider path whereby the current owner may be looking for an exit strategy or would like to transition to retirement and would like to gradually transfer ownership to a couple who would keep the ranch operating as an enduring legacy of the prior owner. We could manage the ranch and provide labor for a percentage of the gross and/or a salary.

We have a significant amount of cash on hand to purchase equity and/or cows. We are willing to contribute sweat equity, day to day operating and management skills as well.

Looking for 600-2400+ aums or 50-200+ hd year around basis.

We owned/operated for 10 years, a remote, diversified Wyoming ranch that included 100 acres of flood irrigated ground. The ranch functioned as a working cattle, horse, hunting preserve, licensed bird farm and dude ranch vacation spot.

We possess a strong land stewardship ethic and commitment to good stewardship of natural resources. We introduced the implementation of sustainable, holistic integrated resource management practices to improve the quality of the grasses, water and overall health of our ranch. We implemented riparian habitat and wetland management practices.

What can you expect from us?

1. Our preference would be to stock the property at its winter carrying capacity.

2. Use of planned, adaptive, rotational grazing in order to improve the range land by having proper stock density (cows trained to graze as a compact herd). Planned moves of the herd so as to leave the correct amount residual graze, so range plants recover easily and thrive. Implemented correctly our techniques will improve soil health, range conditions, increase carrying capacity and increase the value of the land.

3. You could expect, with the property owner’s cooperation, the property to improve w/ regard to grazing, range and soil quality, water development, fencing, corral systems, and wildlife habitat. We would be willing to cost share and/or provide labor for improvement projects. We have experience and would also be willing to work with the NRCS, FSA, BLM, public non-profits w/ regard to water development, range improvement, riparian habitat and wildlife habitat enhancement projects. For example, if the property owner is interested in receiving grants and doing cost share projects, we would be willing to do all of the paperwork/applications for you. We have some familiarity with BLM Co-op agreements as well.
