Description:
Shorty is one of the fanciest paint geldings you will find anywhere. He is built like a tank, at 14.2 hh and 1250 pounds, with a big hip, wide chest, and plenty of bone. He is 12 years old and gentle for just about anyone, and with his good mind and willing disposition he is such a pleasure to ride. Shorty came off of a ranch out west, where he was used for all phases of ranch work, including sorting and doctoring cattle and dragging calves to the fire. He is strong to the horn and will pull whatever you can hook onto with no problem. Shorty was also the go to horse for guests on the ranch, and has literally packed hundreds of kids and beginner riders around the ranch over the years. He is the type of horse that will only give you what you ask for, never more. So if all you want to do is walk, he will walk all day long, but if you ask him to go faster he will step right into a nice slow jog or a rocking horse lope. Shorty rides quietly on a loose rein, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. He is good on both leads, will sidepass, work off your leg, and work a gate. He is an excellent family horse, the type you can use to go do a job and then turn the kiddos loose on and know that he will keep them safe. Shorty has an easy one handed neck rein, a good stop, and is very forgiving of his riders mistakes. Whether you ride him once a day or once a month, he is always the same horse. Shorty would make an excellent drill team horse or playday horse, as he is quiet but has speed to give you if you ask for it. He can be ridden by himself or in a large group of horses with no problem. He will leave the group willingly and will happily lead or follow. We have ridden him down the road and in traffic and nothing bothers him. Shorty is sound with no health issues or scars. He has excellent ground manners and is easy to load, haul and shoe. $8,500.
