Description:
This is a used snaffle bit made by Texas bit and spur maker Terry Alward from Dumas, Texas. Terry is listed in Bits and Spurs, Motifs, Techniques and Modern Makers by Ned and Jody Martin and he does really nice work. Terry is one of spur makers selected to provide spurs for the Texas Style Bit and Spur Makers Association Woman’s Protective Services auction along with other top makers. The bit is marked Alward 167. It is steel mounted with nickel silver with copper inlay on the back of the bars. The bit is used and has wear at the collars and center rings. There is rust build up on the steel. The bit still has a lot of use left in it.

Measurements: Cheek Pieces 6 ⅝”, Mouth 5 ¾” between cheeks, Bars Diameter at the widest ½”, Weight 15.7 ounces
