Description:
Hi, my name is Hannah Switzer. I’m looking for a full time, long term position colt starter, horse trainer, cattle ranch hand in training (read further for my experience with cattle)

What I have to offer:

-Horse training- I can halter break, do groundwork, start colts, tune up horses, exercise horses, lope horses, put trail miles on horses, etc. I don’t mind feeding, doing stalls, watering, and all that but I don’t want that to be my main and only job.

-I am hard working, self motivated, a fast learner, and love a hard days work.

-I have an automatic Toyota tundra, a two horse bumper pull trailer, one mostly broke horse (she needs more miles and is a afraid of cattle running up behind her and coming at her, we are making progress), and a well behaved ranch raised dog (mini Australian shepherd).

My experience:

-10 years of riding, 5 years of training horses, 2 years colt starting at a horse ranch with 100 head of horses. Also cared for all animals on the ranch (goats, sheep llamas, camel, chickens, ducks, dogs, all the animals) and have helped foaling.

-I have worked with ages from birth up, started colts, gentled mustangs, tuned up old brood mares, worked with problem horses.

-I have trained enough that I am confident in what I do but I am always open to learning. I am a firm believer in groundwork but I don’t spend weeks on the ground before getting in the saddle. I can put a good solid 10 rides on a colt and set them up for success. When it comes to finishing horses I have a lot to learn. I’ve started more horses and rode more problem horses than I have rode good solid broke horses. I have a good seat, light hands, and am not afraid to get on a difficult horse. If there is a certain way you want your horses trained I am willing to adapt and learn (except for old time cowboy way of choking them down, throwing a saddle on, and riding the buck out) as long as you take the time to teach me your way.

-I’m wanting to learn reining, working cow horse, cutting, western dressage.

-I have very limited experience with cattle (by "very limited" I mean I have helped move about 80 head from pasture to pasture with about 6-10 other people at a time and have helped a little with vaccinating and have watched a branding) but am dying to learn the ropes of everything (including roping, branding, driving, cutting, doctoring, general care, all of it). I can rope from the ground but haven’t had much practice under saddle (I’ve roped a lot of horses in training, goats, sheep, llamas..). I have some head knowledge about everything but have never had the opportunity to put it into practice and be taught. I learn by watching and then doing. If I don’t have the opportunity to try it I will never learn.

Need a place that provides room and board and my dog needs to be completely welcome (he cant be locked in the house all day he is an active dog that needs exercise nor locked outside of the house at night. He doesn’t usually leave my side. If he does wander around he just minds his own business. He is house broke and knows all basic commands). If deductions need to be made for my horse’s feed that is understandable.

If your not willing or don’t have time to teach then please don’t call. I want be able to put into use what I do know and learn about all I don’t know. I’m looking for a job but also someone who will invest time to teach me and help me become a better horsewoman. I can be pretty shy in my work at first until I know what I am supposed to do, how I am supposed to do it, and what is expected of me. Once I know my job I give it %110 to the best of my ability.

If you are looking for someone to fill a job position with duties other than what I am offering than please don’t call.

Sorry this is so long but I want everything to be upfront because I just moved from Idaho to Colorado under the impression that my abilities would be of use and I would be learning what I needed to know to help them and it was the wrong impression.

Would like at least $1500 a month pay. If less than that I would like a guarantee for raises as time went on and I learned more, had more responsibilities, could help with cattle etc.

Looking for something in Colorado only if it’s close to where I am currently located, Idaho (N. Idaho is hometown), Washington, Oregon, Northern Utah, or western Montana.

First picture is me on a 4 year old mare I put 30 rides on and showed in a breed challenge, second one is me on my 7 year old mare, third is my dog, and last two is a 7 year old POA x Gypsy I started.

Please feel free to call and leave a message or text if that is easier and I will call you back. Email is not best because I do not have internet access all the time.
