Description:
A general ranch hand is currently needed at Joe Heim Quarter Horses,Inc., located at Exit 5, I-35, (2 miles north of WinStar World Casino and 7 miles north of Gainesville, Texas). The person hired for this position will work with and under the direct supervision of Joe Heim to conduct daily operations. Hours may vary but are generally 7 or 8 AM to 4 or 5 PM daily with a one hour lunch break and minimal duties other than feeding and chores on weekends and holidays.

Candidates interested in applying for this position should be aware that we enjoy a private, peaceful, stress-free, low key but highly professional working environment. If you’re looking for a job with a horse trainer in a a bustling, fast-paced, emotionally-charged atmosphere with non-stop action, THIS IS NOT the job for you! Been there, done that! Enjoying a much slower pace now.



Duties for this position include the following:

-Assisting with daily operations including feeding, watering, checking, and/or general care of all horses and livestock.

-General maintenance.

-Providing assistance occasionally with handling, saddling, sales prep, or grooming of horses.

-Conducting daily operations and providing security in our absence.



Qualifications to Apply:

-Must be mature, dependable, capable, and trustworthy; preferably 30 years of age or older.

-Must be in good health and physically fit.

-Must have VERIFIABLE work history and experience handling and caring for at least 10 or more head of horses at one time.

-Must have verifiable work history and experience handling horses of ALL ages, not just extremely gentle, older horses.

- Must have general knowledge of Western horsemanship.

- Intermediate to advanced riding skills are preferred but not mandatory.

- Must have a verifiable background or recent work related history and experience with cattle.

- Must have some mechanical and construction aptitude, skills, or related experience.

- A professional appearance and demeanor is required. (If you have to ask what that means, you probably don’t qualify.)

* If you are under 30 years of age, you DO NOT qualify for this particular position.

* If you lack actual experience as described and don’t have a verifiable background and recent experience working with and caring for horses of all ages as well as cattle,please don’t contact us. * No horse trainers or outside horses or horse related businesses will be allowed.

* No dogs other than our own are allowed on our ranch. We have plenty and don’t need any more or a potential lawsuit as a result of yours.

* No children or extended families will be allowed to reside at Joe Heim Quarter Horses. We love children but there are serious liability issues that must be considered as well as limited housing space. Visitors are welcome with permission and advance notice.

* Illegal drug use of any kind is strictly prohibited;

* Excessive consumption of alcohol is strictly prohibited.

* Any candidate with a background, history, or reputation of abuse,roughness, mistreatment,or neglect of any animal will not be considered.

* A history of personal problems or behavior that interferes with dependability, trustworthiness, or interaction with others will exclude otherwise qualified candidates.
