For sale is a full floral hand-carved custom Heydt & Streib working ranch saddle. The saddle fits a gaited horse WONDERFULLY, but it fits my quarter mare just as good. I know that’s odd sounds odd, but these type rigs don’t have the extra long bars on today’s trees, and thus fit more horses, and better, too. Less "bridging" and so forth.

First, the saddle just got a FULL saddle soaping and neatsfoot oiling- so it looks darker than it really is. The leather is fantastic- not old and cracked at all- full of life even when you bend it. The patina will be beautiful once it returns to it’s original state. The pictures do the saddle NO justice at all. THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST COMFORTABLE SADDLES YOU’LL EVER SIT IN! 16" seat HEYDT & STREIB (maker marked- Portland, Oregon) custom ranch saddle! This saddle has the following features- round skirted, air-foam padded FULL 16" seat, FULL floral carving, ALL original including back billets, carved leather covered stirrups, strings, everything! The fleece is excellent as is the rest of it. This is one RARE saddle! The leather is in excellent condition throughout. The bars are well spread to accommodate a horse with withers and not too fat. A saddle of this quality made today would cost at least 5K. Heydt and Streib were German saddle makers who competed with the likes of Hamley and George Lawrence, so you know they had to be top makers, and believe me, they were! The quality of these rigs is every bit as good as a Hamley. Give me a call or message if interested. Again, the pictures are bad and I apologize as they are the best I can do. The saddle is honestly MUCH prettier than shown.
