Matador Cattle Company’s Beaverhead Ranch covers over 300,000 acres of owned and leased land in Southwest Montana and was originally established in 1865. It stretches along a 90-mile road from Dillon to the Idaho border then east to Yellowstone Park. It is home to approximately 7,000 cow/calf pairs but also bald eagle, elk, and beaver. The Beaverhead uses a rest-rotation grazing plan developed in the 1970s that promotes biodiversity and healthier grazing. The responsibilities for this Cowboy/Cowgirl 2 will include: Herd management (feeding, branding, weaning, pregnancy checks, vaccinating, etc.) Horse care/ riding Maintenance (fence repair, etc.) Flood Irrigation Qualifications Required One or more years’ experience working with livestock or on a ranch Experience riding horses for the purpose of cattle care (i.e. roping, calving, branding, etc.) Valid driver’s license Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs. Ability to work a seven day work week depending on seasonal fluctuations Ability to work outside in all types of weather conditions and temperatures Ability to work in a physically demanding job Willing and able to live in company provided housing Will not require sponsorship Preferred Associate degree or equivalent education with an emphasis in one of the following fields: Animal Science, Agriculture, Economics or Range Management Company Overview Koch Industries, Inc. is one of the largest private companies in America according to Forbes magazine.
