Cutting Horse assistant needed:

You must have extensive riding experience. The job will require riding young performance horses. The position MAY also work into an apprentice training position, ie learning how to train a cutting horse, start a (2) year old and/or start ground work on a yearling.

Duties would include:

-AM/PM Feeding

-Cleaning and Bedding Stalls

-Grooming and Bathing Horses

-Exercising 10-15 Horses per day

-General Maintenance of Barn and Property

-Bringing in/Turning out of Horses

-Blanketing

-Watering

-Keeping Tack and Barn in good condition

Traveling for Shows – Generally (2) weekends per month in the Spring and Summer. Aged Events in the early Spring and Fall can run up to 14 days with only (1) day until the next show.

The ideal candidate will be riding fit, i.e. this is a tough job, if you are not in shape you won’t make it. Must be self motivated, have general common sense, and of course horse sense. Must be able to work efficiently and have a good working knowledge of horses (ailments, illness, lameness, etc.)

CAN NOT SMOKE, DRINK OR DO DRUGS. We are a professional training facility and must present ourselves professionally at all times, especially at shows.

This is a job that requires approximately 8 to 12 hours of work daily. 5 to 7 days a week. Applicant must understand that this position is extremely labor intense.

Compensation includes:

Room/Board for one horse - No pets allowed

Travel Trailer with slide out, utilities included. Cable TV may also be provided if requested.

Pay dependent on ability and performance. Base pay, to start, is 1,200.00 for the month.
