Recent horse experience a must. Location: Rand, Colorado. Typical day would start with and typically includes… • Feeding our horses kept in corrals and stalls • Blanketing or un blanketing as needed • Straighten up the chicken coop • Mucking of stalls and or runs, checking water • Of course dazzle guests with sparkling conversation while doing the morning chores if they happen to be in barn area • Visit our horses in our larger pastures > body checks for daily for injuries, • Putting out hay (round bales) in corrals and or pasture if needed During the day in our summer season you could expect to … • Saddling and un saddling our trail horses • Lead trail rides telling endless jokes and humorous stories. • Help with the pony rides for our smaller guests • Give Wildlife tours with our Polaris Rangers When not so busy with guests … • Harrowing of indoor and outdoor arena • Riding horses needing to be ridden • Maintenance in barn area • Fence repair • Sweeping decks, porches, and cleaning outside areas • Picking up trash • Cleaning vehicles if needed including our stock and horse trailers • Restocking of firewood • Mowing the bit of lawn we do have • Help with cutting or bringing in firewood • Put up hay In rare occasions our cleaning lady needs a bit of help. You could expect to do the following if she needed help cleaning cabins and general areas … • Dusting • Washing floors, counters, windows • Washing & folding sheets & towels • Cleaning bathrooms • Changing towels • Changing/making beds • Vacuuming In the winter time, provided we got the snow we need to have to groom. We groom, sometimes daily depending on snowfall and trail conditions. Very little horseback riding and limited for the most part to training in the indoor arena. This position is an “all-around” or “float” and may be called upon to do just about anything on the ranch. Strong social skills, attention to personal appearance, and proper etiquette are essential. Experience preferred but we will train conscientious persons who are organized, detail oriented and have the right attitude. Must be able to repeatedly lift and carry 60 pounds a minimum of 200 feet while working at altitude of 8,500 feet. Must be able to perform all of the duties listed in high altitude environment. Rabid, obsessive – compulsive need for cleanliness is highly valued. Those with a high tolerance for filth need not apply. Housing including all utilities would be provided.
