An apprenticeship with Joe Heim will provide you with the necessary "tools," skills, and experience you need to get a job as a horse trainer or working for an owner or trainer. Tired of loping or being turned down due to lack of experience? Start now!





This unique vocational learning opportunity includes paid housing and a weekly stipend(allowance) which is increased over time based on performance and length of stay. Major sponsorships are available for those who qualify.



If you aspire to train horses professionally and want to learn how to ride, train, and maintain Western performance horses at the highest, most elite level, don’t miss this one-of-a-kind opportunity. Along with personalized daily instruction, apprentices learn the professional secrets, techniques, and methods used to break, train,and show Western performance horses, including, but not limited to, "cow" horses. What you learn can be applied to any horse.



You’ll ride and work with and alongside a Champion trainer daily as you experience first hand what it takes to operate a successful and profitable training/breeding facility and working ranch.



A typical day for an apprentice is 8-5 with seasonal adjustments and an hour lunch break. You’ll assist with daily operations,(grunt work and stall cleaning is very limited) and learn every aspect of breaking, training,maintaining and breeding/foaling performance horses at the highest professional level.



If you’ve ridden trail horses, rodeoed, barrel raced, team penned/sorted, or just ridden horses in general all your life but want to make a living as a horse trainer this experience will open your eyes and provide you with the indepth knowledge and experience needed to succeed as a professional horse trainer. There is a big difference! If you don’t know, it’s time you learned why and put yourself ahead of the others.



If you are serious about pursuing a career training horses, this is an opportunity to learn what others can’t, won’t, or don’t have time to teach you.



If you think you can ride now, an apprenticeship will open your eyes to all that you don’t know and need to learn in order to (a) work for a trainer or owner, or (b)successfully train horses for a living.



Job assistance is available as well as recruiting services.



Fully furnished, nicely appointed, single person housing provided with paid utilities and weekly stipend. Housing space is limited. Sorry-no children or extended family members. Couples will be considered. Sorry-no outside horses for board of profit.



To qualify as an apprentice you must have the following:



1. Verifiable riding experience-the more recent, the better (sorry, no beginning riders),

2. Verifiable experience and knowledge of handling horses;

3. A passion for horses that includes a willingness and desire to care for them and to never mistreat them;

4. A open-minded attitude and desire to learn, expand your knowledge, and advance your skills as a horseman;

5. Willingness to participate on a daily basis;

6. A professional appearance and demeanor;

7. A "can do," team player attitude;

8. Self respect and respect for others;

9. Integrity;

10. Commitment.
