If you are looking for a gentle, uncomplicated horse to ride on trails, one that won’t break the bank, check out Dottie. She is a 14 year old paint mare, 14.3hh. We recently took her in on trade from a family who had owned her for the last 8 years. Dottie is a nice trail horse, with no buck rear, biting, or kicking. She prefers to be on the slower side, better at a walk and a trot. She will lope if pushed but that’s not her favorite gait. Dottie will cross water, ride along the road, and will go through tall brush without any issues. She is smooth and has a soft mouth and a good stop. Dottie has good ground manners, stands quietly tied, and loads and hauls well. She is sound with no health issues, is an easy keeper, and just got new shoes put on. She is not an arena horse, just a quiet trail horse, and would make an excellent dude string or camp horse as well. Dottie was turned out for several years before we got her so she is a little sour around the barn, but it isn’t terrible. And once she is away from the barn has no issues. She will ride out alone as well as with a group, will happily lead or follow, and doesn’t mind being separated from the group. Asking $2500.
