This position works very closely with the Cattle Supervisor, the Hospital crew and the Yard Manager. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Ride pens per daily schedule identifying sickness and injuries -Accurately record all sick ”pulled” cattle removed from pens on pull slip - Accurately record pens ridden on cowboy pen map daily before end of shift - Move cattle safely from pen to pen as directed - Assist in sorting fat cattle as needed and directed - Assist in loading and unloading cattle trucks as per schedule - Furnish their own tack and horses - Feed & care for those horses Marginal - Assist in processing cattle as directed - Assist in doctoring cattle as required - Clean water tanks as needed - Maintain yard housekeeping standards - Other tasks or duties as required by supervisor QUALIFICATIONS - Must be able to recognize sick & injured cattle and skillfully pull them out of the pen and move to hospital - Must have good horsemanship skills - Must have full knowledge of cattle handling skills - Must be able to count cattle accurately - Horse & cattle background is essential - Excellent safety skills and awareness needed - Must be a team player TYPICAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - Mostly very heavy work requiring exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally - Requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions - Person subject to both inside & outside weather conditions including extreme cold, heat, noise, hazards, and atmospheric conditions - Must be able to ride a horse 8-10 hours per day - Haul and feed 120-pound hay bales - Open & close gates, using occasional force MACHINES OPERATED - Pickups - Cattle Scales - Cattle Chute - Loader - Bobcat PRODUCTION STANDARDS - Identify and pull all sick & injured animals without missing any - Meet or beat the minimum number of pen deads - Handle cattle safely and in an orderly fashion - Identify strays and put them in their correct pen BENEFITS - Competitive Wages - Horse and Performance Incentives - Family Health/Vision Insurance - Dental - 401k Plan with a 5% match - Year-round work Please apply online at www.beefnw.com or call 541-481-2386 551 visitors have viewed this ad
