Description:
Great opportunity to join the Leachman Cattle Company Feedlot team in Meriden, WY. Feedlot is filled with both seedstock bulls/heifer and commercial feedlot cattle.

The feed mill/truck operator will be involved in all aspects of the feeding process. This includes monitoring and maintenance of all equipment required to operate the mill, as well as feed grinding, mixing, and delivering of feed for the feedlot.

Primary Responsibilities:

•Responsible for working closely with feedlot manager and assistant manager in all aspects of feeding.

•Responsible for ensuring all forage ingredients are prepared and available for daily feeding. This includes grinding, preparation, and staging of forage ingredients.

•Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly routine preventative maintenance tasks including greasing bearings, checking gear boxes, inspection/tightening of belts, etc. are conducted.

•Conduct daily pre and post inspections of equipment and machinery required for operation.

•Assist in repair and maintenance projects with the feeding team.

•Monitor grain bins and ingredient inventories.

•Operate a company-owned loader and feed truck.

•Fill micro ingredients boxes and clean out ingredient bins as needed.

•Load complete feed orders on to feed trucks.

•Assist in cattle observation and report any cattle health concerns to manager/supervisor.

•Assist in processing cattle.

Education & Experience:

•Ample experience in the cattle feeding industry.

•Working knowledge and experience with feed mills, bovine nutrition, ration formulation, feedlot and seedstock cattle industry, cattle handling, livestock health and diseases, and forage movement.

•Ability to analyze information quickly and come to conclusions which lead to action and recommendations.

•Strong people skills for working with others including veterinarians, farmers, scientists, customers, and other feedlot staff.

•Extremely organized with the ability to organize different projects at the same time. Ability to prioritize tasks to be completed, and direct staff team to focus on alignment with those priorities.

•Dependable, self-directed and can be trusted to perform critical functions without direct supervision.

•Willing to adapt to changing conditions and plans.

Physical Requirements

•While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and use hands/fingers to handle, manipulate, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
