We are searching for a driven individual to help maintain the quality and welfare of our animal health. The position available is full-time with on-farm housing available. Team member will be responsible for a range of essential tasks including but not limited to walking pens and pulling/doctoring cattle, processing incoming cattle, weighing and shipping/receiving, and feeding of cattle with the ability to mix the correct load and deliver feed to the correct pen. Most of your time will be spent outdoors. This position also requires involvement in other aspects of our farming operation and the ability to operate equipment, assist with maintenance, and ensuring upkeep of equipment and facilities. Mechanical and/welding abilities would be beneficial. CDL would be beneficial. An ideal candidate would possess the following qualities… -Punctual and dependable—Be at work and begin working on time. -Positive, can-do attitude and strong sense of accountability. -Self-starter—knows responsibilities and can work with minimal supervision. -Ability to work with as a team and independently. -Great verbal communication—Listen and ask for help or clarification. Respond well to questions. -Willingness to learn and be trained and offer help when needed. -Prioritize and complete assigned tasks in an efficient and timely manner— awareness job responsibilities overlap and can affect other’s responsibilities on the farm. -Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness in an effective and timely manner. -Apply common sense understanding to follow instructions and carry out tasks. -Organized and observant. -Neat and legible handwriting is a must for record keeping. -Commitment to the safety and health of our cattle. Job duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to… -Walking pens assigned to you daily. -Moving cattle from pen to pen when necessary. -Weighing and yarding incoming cattle. -Assisting with processing incoming cattle and doctoring when appropriate. -Mixing feed and delivering it to the correct pens. -Maintaining a high standard of housekeeping of yards, equipment, and buildings. -Identifying and communicating all maintenance needs and concerns. -Operating heavy equipment including loaders, skid steers and tractors with efficiency and skill. -Draining, cleaning, and maintaining water tanks to ensure the health and well-being of livestock. -Assisting other areas of the feedlot and farm as needed. -Adhering to OSHA and safety procedures, rules, and regulations always. This position requires… -Valid Driver’s License or Commercial Driver’s License. -Vision abilities including distance and depth perception. -Working in and around cattle and their manure. -Working in extreme weather conditions such as rain, snow, wind, heat and cold. -Working possible extended hours and weekends if needed. Job Type: Full-time Location: Weber Beef, Inc. 27675 North Weber Road Geneseo, Illinois 61254 Schedule: Monday–Saturday and possible Sunday mornings. Hours are flexible and negotiable. Once hours are negotiated, you must commit to them. Willingness to occasionally work nontraditional hours and holidays is preferred. Pay: $17- $25/ hour.
