“Sanchez” is a 6 year old grade Quarter Pony gelding standing 14 hands. When I say that Sanchez is a super pony, I mean it! He has been my personal ranch pony for the last two years and his ‘meet you at the gate’ personality is top notch. He is always eager to be caught and messed with and will follow you all around the pasture. He is very reliable and lots of fun to ride! No matter what the job is – moving cows from one pasture to another, checking fences, going for a relaxing trail ride, ponying colts, catching loose cows, etc – Sanchez is the one I pick! Not only is he my go-to ranch horse, he is also very trustworthy for our young kids to lead and ride double or by themselves. He rides on a loose rein, moves off leg pressure, neck reins, and walks, trots, and lopes with ease. Sanchez is truly the whole package! He will ride out alone or in a group with no issues. If you ride out with a group and then decide to split off, he won’t cause any problems! I have ridden him through thick brush and deep ravines chasing loose bulls that are twice his size. When the brush gets too thick, I can dismount, tie him to a tree, and trust that he will still be standing quietly when I get back. Most recently, I saddled him up on a 10 degree day with 12 inches of snow on the ground to catch an unhandled draft colt. He rode off like he had never missed a day and went to work with no funny business! Sanchez takes care of all of his riders and knows when a small kid is holding the reins or lead rope – he’ll drop his head and go as slow as needed. If you want to switch it up, he also rides English and enjoys jumping! Sanchez does everything on the ground as one should. He loads easily, has nice stall manners, and stands quietly to be bathed, shod, tied, and saddled. He is a very special little horse who is sure to make an excellent partner for any adult, or a safe, reliable mount for a child to grow and learn with. He is kid tested mother approved!
