Description:
*Summary

These are full time positions that are responsible for physical security, maintenance and agricultural operations of greater property and affiliated properties, including houses, adjacent buildings and facilities, grounds, farm grounds, pastures, animals, equipment, machinery, and security/utility systems. Also responsible for a variety of domestic services in houses. Positions are best suited for a couple who will live full time on the property in a single family dwelling. These jobs are suitable to very motivated people that are willing and able to complete many tasks and work without direct supervision on a diversified ranch. Must have some relevant agricultural work experience, handyman skills, cooking and household skills, equipment maintenance skills, must have good communication and interpersonal skills, and must be willing to work extended hours and weekends.



*Responsibilities

-Provides security and care for property at Casa Verdad Ranch.

-The normal workweek is five and one–half (5 ˝) days per week. During the times Family and/or guests are present, days off will be arranged in advance so that they will not conflict. This would allow days off during the week or as otherwise mutually agreed. Vacations and days off will be in accordance with the owner policies. Vacations must be scheduled well in advance. Typically the full day off is a mutually agreed weekday in the middle of the week, (Wednesday) and Sunday being the partial day.

-Performs routine and special security checks at the Casa Verdad Ranch area.

-Performs irrigation and farming agricultural operation and management.

-Monitors and maintains buildings, fences and grounds to prevent unauthorized access.

-Performs all required grounds keeping duties including, but not limited to, mowing, trimming, weeding, raking, planting, fertilizing, and watering, and maintains the watering systems; and perform reclamation efforts such as erosion control, falling dead trees, and seeding as needed.

-Provides house cleaning, laundry and cooking as required or as needed.

-Communicates at least weekly with an owner at their convenience with status of properties and operations.

-Picks up the mail.

-Handles light maintenance and repair for all the facilities. Provides preventive maintenance and minor repair work for all operating equipment.

-Watches and listens for malfunctioning equipment, appliances, etc.; reports current problems or anticipated problems; repairs by own discretion or calls for outside service, as authorized.

-Maintains the domestic water and sewer systems, water wells, irrigation system, and water lines.

-Repairs and paints exteriors as needed.

-Maintains fences and, when appropriate, builds new fences.

-Hauls trash to appropriate landfill.

-Provides transportation as needed.

-Checks houses not less than every other day.

-Does grocery, supplies and parts shopping as necessary.

-Resides in provided housing with immediate family only. Keeps house and yard in clean and orderly condition.

-House inspection shall be allowed given reasonable notice.

-Keeps personal pets and other animals only as approved in advance on a case–by–case basis; adheres to condition that, in no case, will animals be allowed which are dangerous, uncontrolled, noisy, or interfere with people or other animals.

-Keeps records of purchases such as groceries, supplies, parts, feed, seed, gasoline, etc., and submits on a regular basis; orders replacement stock as needed and authorized.

-Communicates and cooperates with owner, their guests, customers, and employees, outside service agents, and, law enforcement agencies, in order to maintain a secure, courteous, and professional environment.

*Qualifications

-High school diploma or equivalent education with agricultural, handyman/maintenance, cooking, household, and communication skills; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.

-Possession of a valid driver’s license with a clean MVR (Motor Vehicle Record).

-English language fluency, verbal and written.

-Acceptable results of a pre-employment background check and drug/alcohol test.
