Description:
Seeking ranch hand to work on central Wyoming’s historic 88 Ranch. We run approx. 1500 cow/calf pairs, plus yearlings, and 100 head of horses. We are a family ran business and want someone who wants to be a part of our operation long term. We currently have several older upper management employees. We are looking for someone to learn and be respectful who could potentially fill the upper management rolls over time. This will require the ability to listen and learn.

Job will require a self-motivated, self-starting personality. During peak seasons will require 7 days a week but we try to give workers days off if needed during slower seasons. This is for the person who wants to stay busy. With the changing of seasons, you will continue to get to do different jobs which keeps it interesting. We run in everything from prairies, deserts and mountains. Lots of neat country to see for the person with a love to explore and see new things.

Skills/Jobs that will be required-

Riding, roping, doctoring, pairing, willingness to do work on green horses, calving, fencing, corral building, feeding horses/cattle, operate equipment, work on water wells, general repairs, corral cleaning, stall cleaning, drive between 6 different ranch properties which are up to 3 hours apart.

skills that are a plus but not required are (however need to be willing to learn these) welding, irrigating, haying.)

Need to not be too good for any job. Boss is willing to roll up his sleeves and do the "grunt" work, but you will be expected too as well.

We operate one of Wyoming’s leading performance horse programs and the job allows for you to be a part of this if interested. Lots of opportunity for growth in this field if the applicant is willing to learn and grow.

House and work vehicle will be provided. You will be able to keep 3 personal horses but asked to ride our horses for ranch work. House is located off ranch giving you the ability to live your own life when away from the ranch.

Dogs are allowed on a limited basis. No more than 2 dogs. Outdoor kennel provided. Please no dogs in house. We provide a very nice stick-built, 3 story house with garage and require it to be kept clean and taken care of. Dogs need to be watched at all times and not left to chase cattle and horses at large. Dogs chasing horses is a no go for us.

This job for the right person could be a dream job but it must be for the right person hence the very distinct description. We are not micro managers and so this person needs to fit our requirements.

Not in a hurry to hire the wrong person so willing to wait for the right person.

Job could start as soon as March 1st to begin our heifer calving.

Pay dependent on experience.
