I would like to start searching for jobs in Washington state. Preferably working for a reining/cowhorse trainer if possible so I can learn to start reiners and gain the knowledge to advance my own horses. I’ve worked on cattle ranches in South Dakota, Nevada, Montana, and as a pen rider for a feedlot in Idaho. My true passion is working with ranch horses and I love starting young colts and weanlings. I’ve also helped run a horse training and sales business with my ex for 3 years and I use social media to advertise. Unfortunately I am limited to looking in Washington for now because of an ongoing custody battle and a 2 year long protection order. After I win full custody (possibly will know by April) my options for different states can be broader as long as I can have state paid babysitting other than in Washington. I’m looking for something like 40-50 hours a week. Yes, I’m aware that’s more “part time” in the ranch world but I have 2 young children under 4 who need me and are not in school yet. I can get a state paid babysitter while I’m at work and/or have my mom’s help on weekends. The big ask is I would need a pasture somewhere close to keep my herd of personal horses (I have a draft stud). I raise draft cross colts and train and sell them to supplement my income. I’m willing to downsize a little bit if my herd will take up too much space. I know that’s a hard thing to provide but it’s something I have to do because I am the only one who looks after my herd. The last few years have been tragically long. It’s about time I do what makes me happy again and that’s working with horses. If you have anymore questions for me please give me a call/send a text.
