Description:
Large Cow/calf ranch in remote eastern Oregon is looking for experienced calving help beginning February 1, 2025 for 300+ first calf heifers.



Job Responsibilities:



-Work in a 12hr shift watching heavies.

-Daily herd health monitoring in new pairs.

-Occasional feeding will be required, but not a daily part of the position.

-Monitor fence/water as necessary.

-If needed, provide assistance in the calving process.

-Valid Driver’s License is required.



Skills & Abilities:



-Experience handling first-calf heifers and young pairs is required.

-Can observe and take basic action if intervention during labor is needed. i.e. can pull a calf.

-Horsemanship skills. Most time is spent horseback.

-Strong verbal communication skills to keep the next shift updated.

-Confident working alone, but also adaptable enough to work well with other employees.

-Roping and sorting cattle horseback, if necessary. If needed, we will bring pairs or calving heifers into the barn/corrals, but we don’t gather at night and you’ll need to be able to sort heavies and/or young pairs out of the pasture.



We typically run our calving shifts from 12pm-12am and 12am-12pm. Salary is paid monthly and starts at $3,500/mo but is negotiable DOE. Housing is provided and this position could become a full-time cowboy job w/ benefits for the right candidate.
