2021 Bay Percheron/AQHA draft cross ranch / trail gelding

‘Slick’ is an exceptionally good looking, good minded, well trained bay gelding. We raise and train quality draft cross horses here on our ranch. Our mares are all high-end cowbred AQHA mares. Our Registered Percheron stallion sires colts that are extremely gentle, calm and willing with great bone and feet. They are all big and strong but are exceptionally athletic and not heavy or ‘clunky’. These are not your average draft cross horses; They are pretty, are good movers and have more class than anything you’ve seen.



“Slick’ is out of a Colonel Freckles, Doc Bar and Poco bred mare. He is eligible for registration in the Half Percheron and the American Warmblood Registries. He has been ridden more than a year on the ranch and in the mountains. He goes anywhere you point his head. He has never offered to buck, even when he is fresh after a month or more off. He rides like he is 10 years old. He is very well-mannered, ties, loads, backs out of a trailer, bathes, shoes… does it all. He rides low headed, on a loose rein, like one is supposed to. All of his riding has been outside; not in a round pen or an arena. He likes people and can get along with about anyone that knows how to ride at all. You can catch him anywhere, throw a saddle on him and ride off. [If you have to round pen, longe, or exercise a horse before you can ride it, it’s not ‘broke’!] Slick will finish out about 15.2- 16 hands and will weigh around 1350# when he is done filling out. He wears a #2 shoe now. He’s guaranteed 100% sound and healthy. You will not find a prettier or more willing horse anywhere.



There is a difference when you buy one from a serious breeder. We have been breeding good-minded ranch and ‘using’ horses for more than 50 years. We have mares that go back to the 1st AQHA mare I bought back in 1966, and she produced 7 AQHA point earners.
