Hello, my name is Gus Peterson.

I am 30 years old, married with 2 kids. I would like to offer a trade of my work ethics and experience for a place with a good long term opportunity for myself and my family. I am currently self employed training horses in Karnes City, TX full time, so I dont need to take the first offer that comes along, I can stay right where I’m at until I find the right outfit.

First off I’ll list my experience. I have cowboyed on many great ranches all over the western US. Some include Campwoods in AZ, T4 in NM, S Ranch in MT, Bracketts in ID/ NV, Moursunds, Hanna’s, and Shadbolts in NE. I’ve worked at sale barns and feedlots, yearling outfits doctoring pasture cattle, calved thousands, trimmed and shod thousands, started around 500 colts, I’ve driven most types of equipment, made hay, been used for windmill repair, welding, fencing, irrigation, concrete work, construction and all that. I have hired, managed and fired employees in my current business. I’ve gotten along on every crew I’ve worked with, from buckaroos to punchers, to all Mexicans (I understand enough Spanish to get by) to a bunch of farmers or team ropers. I just find my spot and do my job.

While I have very little free time, when I do I enjoy getting to show cowhorses, ranch rodeo, pick up broncs, go ride with another trainer, attend a horse sale, or maybe take a colt to a practice roping. I’m always trying to improve my horsemanship and I like every fast paced, full contact performance horse event that involves cattle and horses.

I’ve never done drugs or been arrested. I don’t have social media accounts or any reason to be on my phone all day. I don’t require full weekends or much time off and I’m no stranger to 100 hour work weeks.

The ideal position for me would allow me to be an asset to a good horse program and still be involved in day to day cattle work. Because of the family I’d need a good house provided.
