“Rita” is a darling 6 year old, 13.3 hand Draft Pony cross Mare. She is the hard to find size that is small enough for the kids and big enough to carry adults all day. She is big boned with good feet and has a smooth, stylish way of traveling. Handy broke with a good stop, spins, takes both leads, is soft in the mouth and backs up easily. Rita is rock solid out on the trails and is surefooted and dependable in steep, rocky terrain. She handles the dogs and other wildlife like they are not even there and isn’t spooky or watchy about things. She goes right through the trail obstacles including step ups, teeter totter, bridge and so much more. You can swing a rope and drag a log all over on her and she is ready to start tracking the dummy and cattle. Rita was started her right here on our place and we know everything about her. She has always been gentle, well-mannered and kind with zero buck to her. Stays trained and quiet with time off, moves easy off your leg and knows how to be quick footed when asked. Rita is an absolute sweetheart who we have loved having in the barn. She has good ground manners and has been ridden walk, trot, lope and out on trail by children as young as 7 year old and is suited for active riders who enjoy a well trained mount. Hops right in the trailer, not marish or sassy to other horses, and will stand tied all day. This mare is sound, sane and sweet and we are thrilled to offer her!
