This facility is home to 2,500 recipient mares, with approximately half residing on-site at any given time. This position includes a preference for a husband/wife team, where one person would manage feeding and ranch maintenance while the spouse may assist with administrative support and cooking. On-site housing and a company truck are provided, along with full benefits and competitive pay above the industry average. Primary Responsibilities Feeding and Monitoring: Feed and monitor recipient mares daily, checking for signs of sickness or health issues. Travel to lease properties to feed and care for mares as needed. Ranch Maintenance: Perform general ranch upkeep, including mowing, repairing waterlines, and other maintenance tasks. Collaborate with a team of three full-time ranch hands who assist with maintenance, mare handling, and sorting. Optional for Spouse: Prepare lunch daily for a crew of 7-10 people. Provide phone and administrative support in the office or around the ranch as needed. Requirements Extensive experience working with horses, including feeding, monitoring, and handling. Strong skills in general ranch maintenance and repair. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Flexibility to handle a 7-day feeding schedule during breeding season (January 15 – August 1). Compensation & Benefits Competitive pay above industry average. Full benefits package, including health insurance and 401k. On-site living provided with all utilities paid. Company-provided truck (2023 Ford). Daily lunch provided by the company. Ideal Candidate(s) A husband/wife team with one person responsible for feeding and ranch maintenance, and the spouse optionally assisting with cooking and/or office support.
