Description:
Family owned multi-generation ranch with 300 pair cow/calf operation and a small herd of free range goats is looking for an intelligent, honest, hard working, detail oriented, self-starter. Most of the fences are in excellent condition and the corrals, tractors, dozer, and pickup are in good condition. The ranch owns 3 good horses and you would be expected to ride them regularly while checking, sorting and moving cattle on the range. The ranch also provides housing/utilities (very nice), beef, and ATV.







Job Responsibilities:



Feed cattle hay 1-2 times per week in Winter/Spring. Make sure solar wells and windmills are operating and fix/break ice as necessary. Seek out and destroy musk thistle in April, May, and June. Prepare fields and plant alfalfa (about every 3-4 years). Preparation for, and the conduction of, controlled burns (March thru June) to control brush. Work calves and cows (brand, eartag, vax, cut). Cut, bale, and stack ~ 1100 large round bales of alfalfa hay from June 20th to September 1st. Spot spraying of plum bushes and Honey Locust trees. Manage cattle rotation through 19 different pastures to maximize livestock and pasture improvement. Ability to work on and fix equipment is necessary, along with some barbed wire and electric fence repair and occasionally fence replacement. Normal general maintenance and cleaning of ranch facilities, including house, barns, corrals along with caring for a small orchard (and garden if you want one).
