LOCATION SUMMARY

The farm consists of several hundred acres predominantly under center pivot irrigation and some wheel lines, with attached range and pasture used for seasonal cattle grazing as well as a small backgrounding/feedlot for cattle. The farm is located near the quiet rural location of Bedrock in west-central Colorado. Services and conveniences including K-12 public school and airport are located 25 miles southeast in Nucla/ Naturita Colorado. An hour to the west lies the scenic Colorado River and Moab Utah which is the central hub in close proximity to many of Utah’s national parks including Canyonlands, Arches, Zion, Bryce Canyon, and Capitol Reef National Parks.





POSITION SUMMARY

The Farm Manager is a pivotal role for an individual who thrives on leading and achieving precision in their work. Situated in a remote area, this role demands a determined professional with a meticulous nature, driven by detail to ensure that every aspect of crop production is executed well. A deep understanding of irrigation systems is essential, as this role entails overseeing and optimizing these systems to maximize crop yield. RESPONSIBILITIES:



Coordinate all aspects of crop production, optimizing planting, irrigation, harvesting, and maintenance.

Maintain meticulous crop and planting records

Make daily operational decisions for efficient farming and enhanced yields.

Supervise 1-3 employees while ensuring equipment upkeep and safety.

Collaborate with the team for informed crop rotation and seed purchasing decisions.

Provide training, and equipment operation licenses, and drive process improvement.

Perform general farm work, operate and maintain equipment, property upkeep, and maintenance.

Build, repair, and maintain general property and fencing structures.

Monitor farm supplies, promote company culture, and engage in essential behaviors.

Operate and maintain Irrigation infrastructure and equipment.

Perform chemical herbicide applications per state and federal regulations and ensure safe handling, applicating, and storage methods.

Reports to the Ranch President



QUALIFICATIONS:



5+ years of diversified farming management experience.

Extensive knowledge and experience with various crop production methods including perennial, annual, and cover crops.

Demonstrated proficiency in farm equipment operation, repair, and water management.

Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or related field, or equivalent experience.

Strong communication, organizational, and team-building skills.

Experience with cattle is preferred but not necessary.



REQUIREMENTS:



Strong interpersonal and team-building skills.

Knowledge of agricultural production and soil science.

Bilingual Spanish would be a plus.

Ability to work extended hours during harvesting season.

Proficiency in computer skills.

Positive attitude, dependability, adaptability.

Willingness to work flexible hours.
