Other fencing methods are used minimally. Putting in t-posts will be needed to set up shades and shelters for the livestock in certain locations. For most of the year, grazing rotations are made every two or three days, so many times, there is fencing every day. This is the PRIMARY responsibility for this position. Other responsibilities will include clearing of forest or blackberry (with a weed whacker or machete) to set up the fence, picking up of portable metal corrals and any and all other tasks related to the rotational grazing of sheep and goats. Repair and upkeep of the mesh fence is also a part of the position. Help would also be appreciated for other labor and tasks; mostly all kinds of lifting and carrying heavy things, cleaning of equipment such as the stock trailer, and if qualified and able, operating of equipment and help hauling stock trailers with our animals. This work will be done mostly on your own. As seen fit, assistance may be requested on occasion with animal care: watering, handling and doctoring, weaning, sorting, putting out supplement and much more. This job is an outdoor job, year round in the elements. Must be comfortable with steep terrain, unstable terrain, and Pacific Northwest Woods (blackberry, poison oak, nettle….) and rain. The company does a great job providing all the tools, equipment and materials needed for the work, nonetheless, there is a lot of walking and physical work involved with this position. The company hiring for this position is a large company, so you would have the benefit of reliable pay, benefits, and a company vehicle to perform the work.
