Thunder is a super cool horse that you can go do anything on, from ranching, to roping, to trail riding, and have fun doing it. He is 7 years old and 15.2hh, weighs close to 1250 pounds, and is stout and big boned with a good sized foot. Thunder has tons of personality and absolutely zero buck in him, making him fun to be around and to ride. He grew up in South Texas, where he was used for all phases of ranch work, including dragging calves, doctoring cattle out in the pasture, sorting pairs, and ponying colts. He has also been heeled off of in the arena, and has been on loads of trail rides. Thunder belonged to one man for the majority of his life, until I bought him about 8 months ago. He had been turned out for about a year when I bought him, as his owner had taken a job out of town. When I got him home I saddled him up and he rode off like he had been ridden the day before. We have ridden him English as well. Thunder is gentle and has absolutely no bad habits, and you can catch him anywhere. He is the first one to come to the fence when you walk out into the pasture, and he loves attention. Thunder has a good handle and will bury his butt in the ground when you stop him. He has an extremely smooth trot you could sit to all day long without getting sore, and a comfortable lope. He will sidepass, work a gate, and is very sure footed. He will go up, over or through anything you point him at. Thunder rides quietly on a loose rein and is content to walk all day long, but has plenty of speed when you ask him for it. He can turn on another gear when you ask him to, but will easily come back to you without getting hot. Thunder is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. He has excellent ground manners, stands quietly tied, is perfect for the shoer, and is easy to catch, load, and haul. Thunder will ride out alone as well as with a group.
