I am looking for a family friendly job involving cattle and/or horse training in Southern Idaho, Northern Nevada, Eastern Oregon, or Northern California areas. Housing provided and close enough to town or with a good community to be able to set a child up with daycare or babysitter. I am not in a hurry and am wanting a long term situation that my son and I can call home. I can send a resume with work experience and references but here is my general experience: •Colt starting and riding green horses on ranches, feedlots, and for the general public •Feedlots doctoring, processing, riding pens, identifying and pulling sick cattle, sorting, shipping, etc •Managed a few hundred head of yearlings on rotation grazing •Branding both head and heel and heel dragging •Pasture doctoring •Fixing fence •Photography and social media marketing Things I don’t have experience with: •Farming and heavy equipment operating •Mechanics •Welding •Properly building fence •Calving •Shoeing I practice low stress stock handling and natural horsemanship. I learned how to handle cattle and rope buckaroo style and it’s what I like to practice and feel is best for horses, cattle, and people. However, I am adaptable and am always willing to learn different ways. I understand that terrain and different cattle need to be handled in different ways. I don’t drink or smoke. Will treat a house and property like my own. I take initiative to do what needs done once familiar with how things are done. Value communication and safety for animals and people. Not bothered by using atv when necessary but definitely prefer and more skilled horseback. I currently own one solid using mare. If training your horses is not part of the job I will add to my string either by bringing in outside horses or buying when I can. I have two dogs. One is a two year old border/mcnab that I have lightly started on cattle, but stock dog training is new to me and she is only the second dog I’ve worked with. The other is a 10 year old mini aussie. I’d love to be able to work them on cattle when appropriate but if they stay home that’s fine too. They are both well mannered crate trained and house broke. My son loves animals, being outside, and being involved. It is imprtant to me to be in an enviroment that encourages that.
