Rockstar is that gelding that is always happy to see you! He meets you at the gate with a willing attitude and the sweetest personality. Rockstar’s demeanor is the thing that stands out the most to us about him. He has the purest of souls and you can rely on him to be gentle, quiet and calm always in all situations.

Rockstar is youth and adult approved with 10’s across the board! Summertime and being out of school here with us means the kids are full steam ahead helping on the ranch and with cattle work. Rockstar has been a perfect mount for our kiddos ages 6-16 to use on the ranch and in the stockyards this summer. No matter the job at hand on any given day there is no doubt he will keep them safe and stay gentle. He is just as quiet in the tight spots and commotion of the stockyards as he is out in the pasture gathering. Then there’s the play after work of course riding bareback through the pond to cool off. Rockstar is a gelding that is absolutely anybody safe.

Though Rockstar lives up to his name with the kids he is adult approved too! We have used him to flag ropings as well as on the ranch. His strongest attributes on the ranch are light ranch work chores like checking fence, prowling cattle and gathering. He is also good to sort on in the pens! In all transparency Rockstar was originally purchased for our rope horse program however, we found that is not where his heart lies and he quickly became a number one choice for the kids and other jobs.

When I say Rockstar is quiet and gentle I mean he is as quiet and gentle as they come! One of the reasons he is a go to for the job of flagging ropings for us is because he doesn’t get worked up with the horses and cattle running by, he will stand quietly in one spot for long periods of time, he is not bothered by the rodeo arena atmosphere. He is unflappable.

Rockstar’s exposure on the ranch, in the stockyards and in the rodeo arena make him an ideal candidate for a solid and safe trail partner. Though our trail riding is usually done in the form of ranch work Rockstar sees all of the same things that he would just enjoying a trail ride. When working on the ranch he is asked to cross water, pick his way through rough or boggy patches, tolerate vines or tall grass around his feet and tickling his belly. The inflatable nature that is created by the commotion of the stockyards and the rodeo arena creates a horse that isn’t spooky and is very tolerant. Therefore he is not spooky if you jump a deer or another form of wildlife out of the bushes. He is also accustomed to riding out alone while making big circles to gather cattle.

All of the attributes that make a horse pleasant to be around and handle are as equally intact as his demeanor is. Rockstar is a gentleman to handle on the ground also. He is easy to catch in the pasture, isn’t aggressive with other horses, trailers well, ties quietly etc. He is well mannered 360 degrees. He is currently shod as many of the places we go to work cattle are rocky, but he has a good foot and can go barefoot if you wish. His current diet is free choice alfalfa and he is an easy keeper. He has no maintenance requires or special needs in any form. He is completely sound and healthy.
