Description:
This horse is a true gentle giant, safe for the entire family and broke enough to go do any job you want him to. Steely is a 6 year old blue roan gelding, 16.3 hh and close to 1300 pounds with a ton of bone and a size 3 shoe. He is from old foundation breeding, and AQHA registered as “Cats Steel Blue Moon” #5898137. He never gets in a hurry, although will move out when you ask him to. He is a consignment horse, and is owned by the woman who bred, raised and trained him. She has gotten a new job out of town and no longer has the time to devote to him, so she is looking for a new home for him. Steely has always had the best of care, is sound and healthy with no blemishes, scars, or soundness issues. He has never bucked a day in his life, even when he was first started. He is the kind of horse you can catch out in the pasture and saddle up without a warm up, and not have to worry that he is going to buck you off on a cold morning. Steely is extremely well broke and has been used for many different things. He has been used in the feedyard and at the sale barn, has doctored cattle out in the pasture and has been day worked off of, has roped bulls, and has been on long trail rides in large groups of riders. He has been hauled extensively and rides just as good away from home as he does at home. Steely is kind and friendly, will walk right up to you in a large pasture and stick his head in the halter. He is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. Steely has an amazingly smooth trot and rocking horse lope, a good one handed neck rein, and will stop easily. He is light mouthed and handy for his size, is good on both leads, will sidepass, and work a gate. He’s roped the sled and done a little sorting, and isn’t afraid to be on the opposite end of a rope from a bull twice his size. Steely is gentle and has always taken care of anyone you put in the saddle. He enjoys a relaxing day out on the trails and is always game to go anywhere you point him. He has excellent ground manners, stands quietly tied, is perfect for the shoer, and gets along great in a herd. Steely is UTD on everything, and is the perfect age to take in any direction you choose. He will ride out alone as well as with a group.
