Job Title: Ranch Hand

Pay Range: $18-25/hour, Depending on Experience and Skills
Pay every two weeks, 5 days ‘Paid Sick Leave’ after 1 year service
Two weekends ‘off’ a month, based on seasonal needs
HOUSING provided
Start Date: June 2024
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support Commercial and Seed-Stock Cattle Business – Cow/Calf operations
• Assist in tasks including feeding, herding, sorting, breeding program, health assessments, branding, support and general herd management.
• Help manage rotational grazing program, pasture maintenance and overall herd observation.
• Support and contribute to the implementation of breeding and calving programs for the herd, ranging from documenting birth records to branding and vaccinating to coordinating AI projects.
• Perform ranch maintenance tasks, including grounds, facility upkeep, equipment operation and fencing to maintain superior standards.
• Support Hay Operation including planting, harvesting, irrigation, fertilization and field maintenance.
• Operate and maintain farm equipment specific to crop cultivation and cattle management, insuring functionality, and safety.
• Collaborate with team to execute tasks efficiently and meet operational goals across both the Ranching and Farming activities.
REQUIREMENTS
• Previous experience in ranching, farming, or related agricultural work.
• Familiarity with cattle handling, pasture management, crop production and harvesting is beneficial.
• Ability to operate and maintain ranch and farm equipment and machinery and equipment advantageous.
• Physical fitness and adaptability to perform diverse outdoor tasks including lifting 50+ lbs. regularly and in various weather conditions.
• Strong work ethic, reliability and proactive/positive attitude towards learning and contributing to all Ranch and Farm operations. We train as we go.
• Ability and willingness to embrace new technologies to help advance the operation
• Ability to work effectively within a team while adhering to plans, schedules and following instructions.
• Must be able to pass a drug test and a criminal background check.
• 6-month ‘paid trial hire period’ with additional incentives and time-off available after successful completion of the first 12-month period.
• Must be available, when needed, to work holidays and night hours to accommodate a livestock operation with calving needs.
•Must be a US Citizen with the ability to read, write and speak English fluently
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Education or certification in agriculture, livestock management, or related fields a plus.
• Experience with herd record-keeping, livestock/crop management and agricultural practices.
• Knowledge of safety protocols related to Ranch and Farm equipment and machinery.
