If you need a safe, been there done that type horse to check fences or push cattle on, one that isn’t too high off the ground, then take a look at Scooby Doo. He is an 18 year old gelding who has spent most of his life on the same ranch, working for a living. His owner recently passed away and the ranch he was living on sold, so Scooby Doo needs a new person to take care of him and enjoy him. Scooby Doo has been used for all phases of ranch work, including roping and doctoring out in the pasture, dragging calves to the fire, sorting pairs and working pens. He is the perfect horse for a weekend rancher who just wants something safe to check cattle on, or for someone who just wants something safe to amble down the trails on. Scooby Doo is 14.3 hh and nicely built, not too far off the ground but stout enough to carry a man all day. He has a thick mane and tail and 4 black feet. He has more whoa than go, but is not lazy. He just knows the difference between having to work and just riding for pleasure, and if you never ask for anything more than a walk, that’s all he will give you. But Scooby Doo will willingly step into a trot or lope if asked, and has never offered to buck, rear, bite, kick or take off. He is so gentle and has excellent ground manners, and loves attention. Scooby Doo has a good handle and stop, smooth gaits, and will sidepass and work a gate. He is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. He gets along great with other horses, will ride out alone as well as with a group, and doesn’t mind being separated from the group while riding.
