Description:
Position Title: Seasonal Camp Cowboy/Cowgirl

Location: USFS Forest Service Allotment approximately 1 HR NW of Burns, OR

Salary: $3500.00/Month

Company Provided Equipment: ATV, Company Truck and Trailer, Company Camp Trailer, Chain Saw and miscellaneous hand tools as needed. Star Link Internet is provided for communication.







Key Responsibilities:

1. Monitor Cattle health and respond as needed

2. Maintain Accurate Records on Animal Health and Treatment, Pasture utilization days, death loss and/or predator conflict.

3. Observe and communicate current updates to ranch manager with regards to resource utilization rates, animal performance and infrastructure conditions.

4. Help organize and plan pasture move days that will occur with help from the ranch crew and outside day workers.

Skills and Abilities:

1. Proficient in handling cattle horseback and with or without the use of stock dogs

2. Skills for range roping required. Crew help available if needed on multiple or large animals.

3. Safe and effective use of ATV’s where needed to fence or put out salt/mineral etc.

4. Knowledge on recognizing Cattle sickness, best guess diagnosis and antibiotic of choice (ranch has protocol in place)

5. Must be able to live in an isolated camp with minimal cell service, cook your own meals and manage your own food situation. Keeping the campsite clean an orderly is a must.



We can provide a few ranch horses but prefer you bring your own. Must be able to shoe your own horses or be able to walk long distances on foot before dark sets in.
