Description:
We have a 700 cow cattle ranch. We feed hay in the winter, calve in march and summer up in the mountains. The winter and main ranch is located in Paris Idaho. The summer ranch is located in Slug Creek Idaho about 1 hr away. We need a team member that can help with the cattle end and also act like a facilities manager that can maintain the buildings, equipment, and fences. Along with being a cowboy we are looking for someone that can repair equipment, change filters, oil, brake pads, weld, drive tractors, swathers, and other haying and feeding equipment. This person will heavily participate in the cattle work including feeding, calving, trucking, trailing, doctoring, and branding. This person will essentially be their own boss knowing what needs to be done with the facilities and making sure it gets done. They dont need to do all the work but need to oversee that it gets done. There will be a full time ranch manager that will manage the cattle and both managers will work closely together to make sure the ranch operates in an efficient productive manner. The ranch is in a state where a lot of fence and corrals need major repair and updating. We DONT expect this person to do all the work but we need this person to work with and help get the additional hired help needed to get the work done. There will be a lot of days on horse back and there will be a lot of days in the shop and fixing fence. We realize time off is important and will not over work you. We want to make sure you have time for your family and we strongly encourage family participation on the ranch when appropriate. At the same time, we need someone with energy and a strong work effort with enthusiasm to improve the overall ranch. We are looking for much more of a partner than an employee. We dont want this to be a job for you. We want it to be an exciting career where you are building something for you and your family as you work with us. This person will have a very close working relationship with me and we will talk every few days by phone and I will likely be at the ranch weekly. I will be a major labor contributor and will consult on ideas but I will not manage or run the ranch. LDS background is very strongly preferred. No smoking, foul language, etc. Pay is negotiable and additional compensation in terms of profit sharing is available. We want to have a very strong, friendly, positive long term relationship.
